Bjerge is a quiet and scenic holiday area on the western coast of Sealand - especially suitable for families with children.

Bjerge is situated about 6 km to the north of Gørlev and about 12 km south of Kalundborg on western Sealand. 7 km inland behind Bjerge, there is Denmark's fourth largest lake Tissø. It is possible to buy groceries and dine in the Bjerge, which is situated about 1.5 km inland behind the beach and the holiday house area.

Beach
The beach of Bjerge is divided into Bjerge Sydstrand (the southern part of the beach) and Bjerge Nordstrand (the northern part of the beach). The are both lovely and sandy bathing beaches with clear water and Blue Flag. Bjerge Sydstrand is especially suitable for children, as no undercurrent appear here and as the sandy bottom is only slightly sloping. By low tide small, sandy islands arise on the beach. In the southern part of Bjerge Sydstrand a beach volley course and a playground are available. Besides swimming, beach volley, walks and beach activities, the conditions here are also good for windsurfing, sailing and angling.

Bjerge - Røsnæs

Nature
Bjerge is surrounded by forests and preserved areas. Tissø is Denmark's fourth largest lake with an area of 13 square kilometres. The lake is situated 7 km from Bjerge, and here the nature is characterized by fields and level moraine landscapes towards west and elevated, hilly and varying landscapes towards east. The area has a rich bird life. The peninsula Røsnæs is a scenic and impressive nature area, which is situated to the west of Kalundborg (23 km).


Activities
The fishing opportunities are good in the 2 streams Halleby Å and Sukkerkanalen, which both flow from the lake Tissø and down to the beaches of Bjerge. Furthermore, a number of good fishing spots are available along the shore. The cliff Bjerge Klint is a popular spot, especially by low tide. It is also possible to fish for freshwater fish in Tissø. Golf players will find many good courses near Bjerge. The courses in Kalundborg, Korsør and Sorø are the closest. Because of the long and good beach, the area invites various beach and water sport activities.

Attractions
Around Bjerge you will find many passage graves, likefor example Regnarshøj by Bjerge and Rævehøj, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Great Belt. The monuments in the marsh Mullerup Mose indicate the spots, where finds from the hunters and fishermen of the stone age changed Denmark's history (14 km). At the eastern shore of Tissø no less than 7 manor houses with beautiful avenues, surrounded by fields and forests, are situated - i.a. the 3 mediaeval houses Søbygård, Kattrup and Selchausdal. The comprehensive agricultural museum Fløjgården contains a large, private collection of agricultural machines from the period 1850 to 1950 - all in all about 2,000 objects. The Belgian horses of the farm are still used as draught horses on special occasions. On the peninsular Reersø you will find the small and interesting museum Reersø Museum, which is a former pensioner's house from the 18th. century (14 km).

Kalundborg

Exhibitions
Visit the vivid commercial town Kalundborg with the interesting harbour environment, the quite unique mediaeval quarter with narrow streets and well-preserved, half-timbered houses, Denmark's only church with 5 towers, the many exhibitions, the cosy town centre as well as Kalundborg Museum, where viking finds from Tissø are displayed (14 km).
The garden Birkegårdens Haver by Tågerup is a scenic experience and a joy for both the eye and the nose. See an English, a Japanese and a Danish garden as well as a fold with domestic animals (24 km).
Go on a ferry trip from Havnsø (31 km) to the island Sejerø, which has a scenic nature, more grave mounds and a monolith. In the zoo Odsherreds Zoo Dyrepark by Asnæs you can experience 600 animals, divided on 100 species (48 km).
The amusement park Sommerland Sjælland offers more than 60 activities for the whole family, like a cosy canoe trip, a wild ride in the roller coaster or a visit to the largest water world in Sealand (66 km).
