The holiday house area of Dannemare is situated in calm and scenic surroundings on the south-western coast of Lolland.

Dannemare

The holiday area Dannemare Høje lies close to the Baltic, and is very tempting for anglers, nature lovers and families with children. The village of Dannemare lies about 4 km inland behind the holiday house area. Here it is possible to buy groceries. In Kramnitse, a few kilometres towards the east, you will find a small and idyllic harbour, where you can buy fresh fish directly from the boats. The nearest larger town is Nakskov, which is situated about 16 km towards north.

Beach
The beach of Dannemare Høje is a lovely sandy beach with dunes. The water is shallow, which makes the beach suitable for children. The beach of Hummingen is situated only a few kiometres from Dannemare and this beach is one of the best bathing beaches on southern Lolland. The beach is very suitable for children and has both dunes and Blue Flag. An ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, walking and other beach activities.

Nature
Quiet, scenic and open areas with a rich bird and animal life surround Dannemare. Here the landscape is relatively flat and therefore suitable for bicycle trips. You will find a number of good walking and bicycle paths close to the sea. Follow for example the 40 km long path known as Digestien, which leads you from Rødbyhavn to Albuen along the strait of Femeren Bælt. The northern part of Lolland is rich in forest areas and has a rich animal life. In the nature park of Maribosøerne you can walk in the scenic landscape or go sailing on one of the four lakes, where you can observe a rich bird life.

Activities
Walks in the peaceful area along the many paths of the holiday house area or on the dike of Diget are recommended. Along the bicycle and walking path Digestien you can enjoy the great view of the strait of Femeren Bælt. Anglers will find great fishing potentialities in this area, as you can fish from the shores or on the sea onboard a fishing vessel. Furthermore, Lolland offers many Put & Take fishponds; in Dannemare itself you can try out the fishpond Holy Put & Take. Golf players can choose between many good courses. The nearest courses are those of Vestlollands Golfklub by Halsted (24 km) and the 9-hole Pay & Play course of the holiday centre Lalandia in Rødby. In Lalandia you will also find the largest water world of the island, and it is open to the public. The water world offers 250 metres of water slides, waves, jacuzzis, saunas as well as swimming pools for both children and adults (28 km).

Sightseeing
Visit the small town Kramnitse, which is situated about 6 km from Dannemare (direct line). Kramnitse has a small and idyllic fishing harbour, where you can buy fresh fish directly from the boats. Take a trip to Nakskov and experience some of the many sights of the town: Danmarks Sukkermuseum informs you about the history of sugar through 130 years. At the Soviet submarine Whisky U-359 you can sense how it feels to stay in an operating submarine. Grøn Verden is an exotic world with tropical birds, animals and plants (16 km).

Discoveries
At the amber museum Jack-Stone Ravsliberi og Museum in Rødby you can experience amber - the gold of the sea - in all its aspects (28 km).
The former barracks Polakkasernen in Tågerup are now a museum, and here you can get an insight into the life and work of the Polish women, who worked in the beet fields (31 km).
In Knuthenborg Safaripark by Maribo the wild animals move around in their natural surroundings - right around your car or bus. Observe giraffes, rhinos, ostriches, antelopes, zebras and Siberian tigers at close range (37 km). Visit the pretty old market town Maribo. Here you can experience the cosy atmosphere, music, market days, interesting shops, sights and restaurants (37 km).
