The village of Trend is situated right by the Lim Fjord, it is surrounded by fields and forest, and has a view to the islands Livø and Fur.
A small holiday area with beach, magnificent nature and plenty of fresh air are the attributes of the village of Trend. You will find a grocer's shop as well as a couple of restaurants in Trend. Ranum, which is situated 5 km away, offers good shopping possibilities. A little further away you will find the towns Løgstør, Farsø and Aars. The area surrounding Trend offers many leisure activities and cultural sights for the whole family.
Beach
The Lim Fjord beach by Trend is a good and long bathing beach with small waves. The beach is suitable for children. From the beach you can enjoy the view of the island Livø. The beach is traffic-free and offers good possibilities for windsurfers.
Nature
Trend is surrounded by fields, forest and the Lim Fjord. The forest of Trend Skov by the village of Trend, contains a royal hunting lodge and many good walking paths. The stream Trend Å winds from Vester Hornum towards the Lim Fjord and is very popular among anglers.
Activities
Anglers will find good opportunities in the streams Trend Å and Bjørnsholm Å as well as in the Lim Fjord and in the Put & Take fishponds of the area. On the Lim Fjord it is possible to windsurf and sail with both motor and sails. Good nature experiences await you along the many bicycle and walking paths. Three 18-hole golf courses are available in the neighbourhood of Trend. Furthermore, a bowling alley, an indoor go-cart track, a glider club and two marinas are available in the area. By the holiday centre of Rønbjerg Feriecenter you can experience a subtropical water world and a variety of other activities for both children and adults (entrance fee).
Attractions
The impressive three-winged mediaeval monastery Vitskøl Kloster from the year 1157 is situated by the bay Bjørnsholm Bug'. Here it is possible to experience the church ruin, the herb garden and the square with the beautiful buildings. The Ertebølle culture bears witness of the settlements around the Lim Fjord during the stone age, more than 6,000 years ago. The first kitchen midden was dug out in the year 1890 by Ertebølle. The stone age centre of Stenaldercentret informs about the stone age society through interesting exhibitions and workshops. The manor house museum Hessel is situated on the peninsula of Louns by Hvalpsund. The fortification of Aggersborg from the year 980 is one of the largest ring castles in Denmark with traces of 48 long houses. The viking castle is very strategically situated by the narrowest part of the Lim Fjord. You will find many craftsmen in this area, who will open their workshops for visitors.
Discoveries
From Rønbjerg you can go with the ferry to the beautiful island, which is traffic-free, very scenic and has a rich animal life and many marked walking paths.
The island of Fur, which is situated opposite Trend, offers diversified and distinctive landscapes, which is characterized by level moors, lakes, fields, hills, steep coastal cliffs, forests and mole graves.
The lime pit Mønsted Kalkgruber by Stoholm is an endless labyrinth of 2 km illuminated mine passages with both large caves and narrow corridors. Once every hour a show is put on and lights are reflected in the largest lake of the pit.
The open-air museum Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseum near Vinderup is an interesting and lifelike museum for the whole family. See among other things how the daily life in the country 150 years ago is recreated. |
