Egense is a small fishing village, situated in the north-eastern corner of Himmerland, where the Lim Fjord flows into the Kattegat.
The cosy and child-friendly holiday house area by Egense is situated in calm and scenic surroundings. Egense is an ideal holiday destination if you wish to relax and enjoy nature. You will find a grocery store in Egense, and every 10 minutes you can go on the ferry to the holiday town Hals, where a variety of shops, restaurants, entertainment and leisure activities are available.
Beach
No bathing beach is available directly by Egense, but the location by the Kattegat means that a good bathing beach is never far away. Towards the north you will find the child-friendly beaches of Hou Strand (12 km) and Bisnap Strand (7 km). Both beaches have fine sand, a sandy bottom, shallow water and Blue Flag. Towards the south lies the beach of Øster Hurup (12 km). The long, white beach has low dunes and Blue Flag. The beach is very suitable for children as the waves are small and the water shallow. The beach is a popular place for bathing, sunbathing, windsurfing and other beach activities.
Nature
The landscape surrounding Egense is scenic and varying. Mulbjerge is a preserved and rather distinctive moraine hillock of 144 hectares near Dokkedal. From here you have a fantastic view of the sea towards the east and the elongated plain landscape towards the west (7 km). Kongerslev Hede is a preserved moor landscape, which also contains some old bronze age mounds. From these mounds you have an amazing view of the area. By the shallow wetlands between Egense and Hals you will find a spectacular bird life. The national park Lille Vildmose is the largest marsh area in Denmark and contains lakes, farm areas and the forests Høstemark Skov and Toft Skov.. Further inland you can experience the largest forest area in Denmark. Rold Skov has an undulating terrain, many forest lakes, springs, varying forest, a rich animal life and a number of walking paths. The forest is definitely worth a visit.

Activities
The area around Egense is a paradise for the angler as it is possible to fish in the inlet, on the sea, as well as in the streams and Put & Take fishponds of the area. Golf players can try out the courses by Hals Golfklub, which is a seaside course, or by Rold Skov Golfklub, which is idyllically situated in the forest. The area is level and therefore comfortable for bicyclists. Lovely nature experiences await you along the marked bicycle routes, which lead you through the scenic landscapes of eastern Himmerland. You will also find many nature paths and walking routes in the area, for example in Mulbjergene and in Dokkedal. You can also drive in go-carts and play tennis in the area.

On the square in Egense, a distinctive sight is displayed. See the impressive jaws of a 9 tonnes blue whale.
Exhibitions
A short ferry trip brings you from Egense to Hals, which is a cosy holiday town with a vivid harbour atmosphere. Here you will find many cultural sights, good shopping possibilities and many restaurants.
Aalborg 27 km away is the capital of northern Jutland. Here you will find art, culture, Denmark's oldest convent, pedestrian streets, the charming old town centre, the amusement street Jomfru Ane Gade, and various restaurants. By Danmarks Saltcenter in Mariager you can experience the magic of the salt. The salt centre is the only tourist attraction in Scandinavia, where the raw material salt is the main subject (48 km).
